What you'll do
In this role, you'll work closely with regional leadership teams and external stakeholders to develop strong relationships, identify new business opportunities, and deliver on growth targets. You'll also support the mobilisation of key projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
This is an influential role where you'll help shape the future of our business, champion our value proposition, and ensure long-term partnerships with our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Delivery
- Position facilities to support client requirements
- Contribute to the development and implementation of client engagement plans.
- Provide strategic insights into opportunities using market intelligence and competitor analysis.
Sales & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, industry associations, and key stakeholders.
- Identify potential new business opportunities and understand their scope, timing, and drivers.
- Promote the Thiess Value Proposition to establish competitive advantage and enhance market image.
- Facilitate and coordinate marketing initiatives, events, and client engagements.
- Serve as Project Development Manager for new opportunities, ensuring smooth transition from concept through to delivery.
Market Intelligence & CRM
- Utilise tools like Salesforce to maintain accurate opportunity and client data.
- Compile and log competitor and market intelligence to support internal strategic planning.
- Create call reports, account plans, and project submissions.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong blend of qualifications, extensive industry experience, technical skills, and key personal attributes. You will hold a bachelor's degree or trade qualification, with advanced studies like an MBA being highly regarded. Your background will include extensive experience in the mining or construction industries, preferably within the region, along with proven success engaging with C-suite executives and leadership teams.
You'll also have prior sales experience in mining services, equipment, or rental industries and a robust professional network in these sectors. Technically, you'll possess a solid understanding of open-pit and underground mining methods, technology, and processing, along with familiarity using CRM tools such as Salesforce and expertise in contractual, legal, and risk management processes. Personally, you are an excellent communicator with a talent for building strong relationships, a proactive mindset, and a keen focus on achieving commercially-driven, customer-centric outcomes.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Proven qualifications and experience in the mining, construction, or related industries, with demonstrated success working with senior leadership teams.
- Advanced understanding of mining methods, technology, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and risk management processes.
- Strong regional professional network and prior sales experience in mining services, equipment, or rentals.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with a talent for stakeholder engagement and client development.
- Effective problem-solving, proactive thinking, and a commercial mindset to achieve client-focused results.
- Passion for identifying and driving new business opportunities while meeting team objectives.
