As Junior Sous Chef at Monica, you will support the Senior Sous Chef in leading our culinary vision and delivering an exceptional dining experience that embodies the essence of the Monica brand. Following our debut in Spring, we're building a team who will take pride in creating amazing dishes across our venues. We believe that food is more than sustenance—it's a story, an experience, and a celebration. - You will oversee restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service and maintaining the highest culinary standards;
- Maintain a consistent level of quality in food preparation, presentation, and taste, ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant's high standards;
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment;
- Ensure the kitchen adheres to all health and safety regulations, including hygiene standards and food safety practices;
- Monitor stock levels, place orders for supplies, and manage food costs, ensuring the kitchen operates within budget;
- Work closely with the Venue Manager and other departments to ensure seamless service and the overall guest experience;
- Stay updated on the latest culinary trends, experimenting with new techniques, flavours, and concepts to keep the menu fresh and exciting;
- Occasionally interact with guests, ensuring satisfaction with the meals and gathering feedback to improve offerings;
- Organise and oversee kitchen operations to maintain high levels of productivity while minimising waste and ensuring consistency in food preparation.
We are looking for you – with personality and that certain something …
- You have at least 1 year of experience in a Junior Sous Chef role within an independent venue;
- You have the ability to work autonomously and in a high-volume restaurant;
- You have proven experience motivating a diverse kitchen team in a high-pressure environment;
- You have a strong focus on quality, cleanliness, and presentation;
- You possess thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices;
- You have strong communication skills and can collaborate effectively with front-of-house staff and other departments;
- You are able to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
