Job Description
-Reporting to the Commercial Finance Specialist - Reporting, this role plays a key part in supporting financial planning, performance analysis, and commercial improvement initiatives across operational disciplines.
- Assist and advise Department Managers and Superintendents in budget development by consolidating inputs and providing financial insights.
- Support the preparation of financial forecasts, incorporating forward-looking risks and opportunities.
- Act as the primary contact for financial information and detailed advice for finance discipline teams.
- Deliver department-specific financial reports and analysis.
- Track financial performance against plan, enriching reports with operational commentary.
- Facilitate discussions on deviations from plan, identifying and communicating operational root causes.
- Identify opportunities for commercial improvement and support effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Work with department management to identify and evaluate cost improvement opportunities.
- Develop a strong understanding of operational processes and value drivers within each department.
- Prepare in-depth financial data analysis and business cases to support improvement efforts.
- Review and provide guidance to major contractors regarding invoicing and review meetings.
- Conduct detailed invoice reviews to ensure accurate cost allocations.
Qualifications
- -Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications within a relevant field (Business Accounting, Finance, Economics).
- Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation is desirable.
- Integrated ERP system experience (SAP).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, and be proactive in a complex environment with strict timelines.
- Experience dealing with complex commercial finance projects within a large organization.

- Monday to Friday staff roster (9-day fortnight available)
