About Your Opportunity
As the Planning Officer, you will support the Land Use Planning team with a range of tasks associated with the review, drafting and implementation of planning policy and legislation affecting Seqwater's interests, both at State and Local Government levels. You will contribute to activities associated with strategic policy, state-interest review of local government planning scheme undergoing renewal or amendment, development assessment to ensure Seqwater's interests are appropriately reflected within policy, legislation and development outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the team mailbox, manage documents, and ensure registers and filing systems are up to date.
- Disseminate planning correspondence, contribute to reporting, and assist with reviews of State and local planning instruments and policies.
- Support the assessment of development applications and provide advice and conditions related to plumbing permits.
- Prepare planning advice for internal and external proposals and liaise with internal stakeholders to gather technical information for development assessments.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in the Unit's activities.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning or urban and regional planning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrated understanding of Queensland's planning and environmental legislation and policy frameworks, including the Planning Act 2016 and State Planning Policy.
- Experience working with local government planning schemes and statutory instruments, particularly in South East Queensland.
- Familiarity with mapping applications for planning investigations.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and contribute to land use policy and strategy outcomes in a team environment.
Depending on your location, you'll have the option to work from one of our offices in Brisbane, Ipswich, or the Gold Coast. This role also offers the flexibility to work from home up to three days per week.
The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for two years, with a starting salary of $93,934.23 per annum plus 12.75% superannuation.
