Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Young Academics Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Are you ready to own the injury management and RTW function in a large, fast-growing organisation? Do you thrive on autonomy and want to shape how a critical function operates? We are seeking an experienced Injury Management & WHS Coordinator to take ownership of injury management, return-to-work, and safety initiatives across our organisation. With more than 50 Early Childhood Centres across NSW, we are a leading provider in the ECEC sector – and we are committed to creating safe, supportive workplaces for our people.

This role offers high levels of autonomy, the opportunity to design and embed best-practice frameworks, and the chance to become our subject matter expert in all aspects of injury management, workers compensation and WHS.

About the role;

This is a newly created, full-time role offering you the opportunity to design, lead, and embed best-practice return to work and injury management processes across the organisation. Reporting into HR and working closely with Operations and Centre Managers, you will lead a holistic approach to safety and injury management. This includes prevention, early intervention, injury management, and safe return-to-work strategies.

You will also act as the organisation's Return to work (RTW) Coordinator, ensuring we meet our obligations under NSW workers compensation legislation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the nominated RTW Coordinator and manage all workers compensation claims and return-to-work processes
  • Design and implement effective RTW and injury management frameworks covering prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery
  • Collaborate with HR, Centre Managers, and Operations leaders to drive early intervention and safe, sustainable RTW strategies.
  • Act as the main point of contact with insurers, treating practitioners, and external stakeholders on claims and injury management.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and employees on WHS and injury management obligations.
  • Analyse injury trends and lead initiatives that reduce risks and improve safety outcomes across our centres.
  • Contribute to broader WHS initiatives, policy development, and compliance monitoring across the organisation

About You;

You are an experienced Injury Management professional with the confidence to lead and the skills to make a genuine impact. You balance compassion for employees with strong compliance and case management skills, and you're motivated to design and own the function from the ground up.

We're looking for:

  • Proven experience in RTW coordination, workers compensation, and injury management (essential).
  • Solid knowledge of WHS legislation and best practice safety frameworks.
  • Accreditation as a Return to work coordinator
  • Strong case management skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters effectively
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and drive preventative initiatives.
  • A collaborative approach, balanced with the confidence to work independently and make decisions
