The Company

JLegal has partnered with a leading financial services organisation to secure a highly motivated Legal Counsel with 5–7 years PQE. The business is a trusted player in the sector, known for innovation, integrity, and delivering client-focused financial solutions. With a strong track record of growth and a forward-looking strategy, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic in-house team where your expertise will have a direct impact on strategic decision-making.

The Role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality legal advice on a wide range of financial services, corporate, and commercial matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, including financing, regulatory, and transactional documents
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across business units to manage legal risk and support commercial initiatives
  • Advise on financial services regulation, compliance frameworks, and governance matters
  • Support dispute management and liaise with external counsel where required

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Law with a current Australian practising certificate
  • 5–7 years post-qualification experience, ideally within financial services, top/mid-tier law firm, or in-house at a financial institution
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills with demonstrated experience in financial regulatory matters
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
