About the role
The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Membership Coordinator to join our Member Engagement team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our members throughout their professional journey, while helping to drive membership growth, engagement, and retention.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the State Team and be part of a national team of coordinators. The role provides the crucial support that is necessary for the State Office to operate successfully and support the overall Member Growth and Engagement business units. This position offers variety, responsibility, and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in strengthening our professional community.
Key Accountabilities
- Act as the first point of contact for members and stakeholders, handling enquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
- Provide administrative support across membership, events, and professional development functions.
- Assist with retention activities, including processing payments, membership changes, and outbound campaigns.
- Support member growth by promoting IPA services, processing applications, and preparing welcome packs.
- Coordinate events and member activities, including event logistics, registrations, and attendee experience.
- Support strategic initiatives, pilot programs, and process improvements as needed.
- Uphold IPA's values and provide exceptional service to all members and partners.
Skills and Qualities
- Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities, combined with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, "can-do" attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High-level organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling processes and member data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database systems (MMS experience preferred).
- Ability to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage change.
Background
- At least 2 years' experience in an administrative, membership, or customer service role.
- Understanding of professional membership bodies or associations will be highly regarded.
