Position descriptionWe seek an enthusiastic Laboratory Aide (Support Services) to join our Laboratory in Kogarah. You will be an essential team member, and your responsibilities will include the following:
- Perform the core duties required in the Specimen Reception Area (SRA).
 - Receipt specimens, ensure all criteria for acceptance of specimens in SRA is met per current collection procedures manual and perform computer entry of necessary request information.
 - Handle, distribute and troubleshoot specimens as needed and according to strict protocol.
 - Perform data entry of patient demographics and other pathology request information.
 - Maintain work area to accepted standards of work health and safety and maintenance of all equipment in SRA.
 - Conduct yourself in a professional and honest manner at all times.
 - Be a helpful member of our team and generally offer assistance within the scope of your training and capabilities.
 
We have a supportive learning environment, therefore prior experience is not required. Full training will be provided.
We are looking for the following:
- Someone open to working part-time to full time hours rostered Monday to Friday, rotating shift hours between 6:30am to 9:00pm. Participation in weekends and public holidays as required.
 - Strong computer literacy.
 - Previous laboratory experience, knowledge of Work Health & Safety and medical terminology is advantageous but not necessary.
 - A hard-working, motivated and reliable individual with a strong work ethic.
 - Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is a team player.
 - Someone with strong attention to detail, good time management skills and excellent communication skills.
