About The Role:

The HV Leader will play a critical role in providing daily direction to the HV Engineering, Projects and Technical teams to ensure the operational success and regulatory compliance of the Whyalla Steelworks and associated mines through the provision of technical direction for the Electrical High Voltage department. 

This position will focus on the safe operations, compliance, risk management, operational security and strategy for the Steelworks and Mines HV distribution network and high energy LV Switchgear.

Domestic Relocation included for those residing outside of Whyalla, which includes: 

  • Relocation allowance 
  • Uplift of goods and 
  • Travel and temporary accommodation, up to 4 weeks (for individuals and immediate family)
  • Daily DIDO Option Available (for Port Augusta, Quorn or Cowell residents)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the HV Engineering, Projects and Technical team, ensuring allocation of technical resources, prioritisation of tasks and optimisation of HV assets.
  • Risk mitigation management associated with asset condition through review, strategy, process improvement, planning and defect elimination
  • Achieve ongoing statutory compliance across all HV/transmission and distribution assets
  • Implement and maintain condition monitoring, predictive and preventative maintenance strategies relating to HV infrastructure and substations
  • Assess, manage and costs control external contractor services relating to High Voltage assets
  • Manage HV annual operating, repair, maintenance and capital budgets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and the Electrical Services team to align requirements and proactively resolve issues relating to performance, scope, schedule, and resources.
About You:
  • Electrical Trade OR Electrical Engineering degree
  • Experience in heavy industry
  • A-Class Electrical Licence (desired, not essential)
  • Ability to work safely at heights, and in confined spaces
  • High Voltage Switching competency (desired)
  • Experience working with any CMMS & ERP systems such as SAP, Dynamics 365, Maximo, EPIX etc (desired)
