About The Role:

The High Voltage Technician will play a critical role in enhancing the operational success of the Whyalla Steelworks through planning and technical support within the Electrical Services High Voltage department.

This position will focus on planning, technical support, development and execution of maintenance strategies as well as corrective maintenance for the Steelworks and Mines HV distribution network and high energy LV Switchgear.

Domestic Relocation included for those residing outside of Whyalla, which includes: 

  • Uplift of goods and relocation allowance (for individuals and immediate family)
  • Travel and temporary accommodation (up to 4 weeks) 
  • DIDO Option Available (for Port Augusta, Quorn or Cowell residents)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and hands-on support for tradespeople doing both corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining records and documentation to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Analyse/review results and raise sub-notifications from preventative maintenance work
  • Plan and prepare documentation for HV asset maintenance plans
  • Monitor safety behaviour on site and promote safe practices that minimize risk to teams, contractors, and the environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and the Electrical Services team to align requirements and proactively resolve issues relating to performance, scope, schedule, and resources.

About You:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Electrotechnology or a class electrical licence with equivalent training and/ or experience
  • Experience working with any CMMS & ERP systems such as SAP, Dynamics 365, Maximo, EPIX, etc
  • A-Class Electrical License
  • Ability to work safely at heights, and in confined spaces
  • High Voltage Switching competency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
