Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, Australia. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

Reporting to the Leader- Accounting & Financial Services, as the Treasury Accountant you will ensure that the transactional activities relating to the treasury function of Harmony Australasia's financial transactions are accurate and complete. Performing activities to ensure liquidity and funding of operations are effective and risk is appropriately managed also complying with internal controls and company policies and procedures.

The key responsibilities of this role includes:

  • Review Accounts Payable Commitment reports, authorise and sign EFT payments, and manage the transfer of funds internationally in various currencies.
  • Take accountability for project accounting within the Treasury department to address funding requests related to project initiatives; address loan requests as required.
  • Prepare mid-month and EOM cash call requests for the joint ventures and Harmony Australasia operations
  • Execute responsibilities related to hedging, and use support provided by counterparties, to prepare and post monthly hedge journals.
  • Monitor and review exchange rates within Pronto as well as monthly rates from Andisa. Distribute to internal parties once approved.
  • Perform risk management activities related to Harmony's liquidity, interest rates, counterparties etc. to support the long-term success of business.
  • Prepare the cash flow forecast for Harmony's Australasia operations, considering timing of inflows/outflows, significant payments planned to manage liquidity effectively.
  • Provide treasury projections, performance indicators and trend analysis for input into budgeting and to support forecasting activities.
  • Prepare financial reports on treasury, liquidity and funding activities to support decision-making processes
  • Respond to Treasury related questions, from internal parties, ensuring the prompt resolution thereof.
  • Preparation of bank regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks to enable efficient treasury accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies to prevent fraudulent transactions.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits for the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Application of Company Safety procedures.
  • Sites specific Induction (General) and Area Specific Inductions as required.

About You
:

To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively with:

  • Minimum 3 years Accounting and Treasury experience
  • Bachelor of Business/Commerce or equivalent
  • CA/CPA or equivalent
  • Monthly reporting and analysis experience
  • Hands-on computerised accounting systems experience, preferably Pronto Accounting Software.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word)
