NEPEAN Longwall – one of our key divisions – designs, engineers, and supports longwall equipment and systems that keep underground coal mining moving. With facilities in Queensland and New South Wales, we offer full lifecycle support – from concept and build through to service and overhaul. Our team is passionate, skilled, and just a little bit obsessed with big machinery (in the best way possible).

The Opportunity

We're on the hunt for a Mechanical Designer to join our Paget, QLD workshop. This is a permanent, full-time role where you'll get to bring your designs to life — literally — with an onsite workshop just a few steps away. If you like solving problems, collaborating with sharp engineers, and seeing your work transform from screen to steel, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing components and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor (and yes, we love clean models).
  • Turning complex requirements into practical design solutions alongside our lead engineers.
  • Creating detailed drawings and mechanical designs with accuracy and flair.
  • Working closely with our in-house fabrication team (nothing beats seeing your design in action).
  • Keeping safety front of mind — because smart design is safe design.

About You

  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role (industrial/mining industry is a big plus, longwall is gold star ).
  • Tertiary qualifications in mechanical design/engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (your CAD skills make others jealous).
  • Strong communicator — able to explain your ideas clearly on paper, screen, and in person.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, but creative enough to think outside the box.
