**In the role of Project Officer (Development Control), you will support the protection of the Department's current and future infrastructure interests & maintain safety and efficiency of the state-controlled roads in accordance with relevant legislation. You will provide technical support, advice, coordination, guidance, training and mentoring in delivering Corridor Management activities in Far North District, including relevant advice and support as required throughout the development and delivery of QTRIP programs and projects.
Accountabilities include:
- Manage the maintenance program for TMR Far North District's vacant land.
- Coordinate the road declaration process as required.
- Land acquisitions / property - Coordinate at district level and provide advice and guidance for the acquisition of land to accommodate Far North District projects by hardship, resumption, or agreement - involves negotiations with project managers, landholders and their legal representatives.
- Liaise with the department's Property Acquisitions and Disposals, and Land Transaction Services teams, manage departmental property, leases and road licences.
- Tenure dealings - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and to assess impacts and risks associated with proposed changes in tenure potentially affecting the state-controlled road network and its operation.
- Assist corridor management staff by carrying out land title searches and provide information relating to land tenure, easements and encumbrances.
- Assess applications for stakeholders seeking access to transport corridors managed by TMR using the principles for approving third party uses, managing potential conflict and risk.
- Protected planning - support to the district's Project Planning team to ensure planning is appropriately protected and the PRISM database current and relevant.
- Property enquiries - review and assess property enquiries for external stakeholders ensuring critical timeframes are met.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
- Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
- Must be eligible to work in Australia.
- Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.
Desirable requirements:
- Experience in traffic and transport principles, modern corridor management practices and processes, and the range of state-controlled road corridor management matters such as utility and access management and external party works in road corridors.
- Experience or qualifications relevant to the transport infrastructure industry, such as Engineering, Town Planning, Design, Surveying or Administration.
