Senior Project Officer, Resources
Join us in this permanent full-time AO5 role, based in any of our key regional offices: Cairns, Longreach, Mackay, Mareeba, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba or Townsville. As the Senior Project Officer, you'll provide high-level executive and project support to the Director and regionally-based team, help coordinate regional stakeholder engagement activities and keep key initiatives moving behind the scenes. This is a dynamic, detail-focused role with plenty of variety, perfect for someone who thrives in fast paced environments and enjoys supporting positive outcomes for Queensland's rural and regional communities.
Step into a regional-facing role where every day is different and your impact is real. As the Senior Project Officer, Regional Engagement, you'll work side-by-side with the Director to support engagement across government, industry and community. Whether you're based in Cairns, Longreach, Mackay, Mareeba, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba or Townsville - you'll be the reliable go-to person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Your day might start by triaging the Director's diary, locking in meetings with stakeholders from across the state, coordinating travel plans for regional site visits and responding to urgent requests for briefing materials. Before morning tea, you'll be prepping documentation for an upcoming engagement forum, checking logistics, sending calendar invites and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. As the day rolls on, you could be updating SharePoint folders, pulling together stakeholder communications, or drafting a letter to accompany a Cabinet briefing note.
You'll also support regional staff with project coordination and provide a link between what's happening on the ground and what's needed at the strategic level. From processing HR and finance tasks, to collating data for business reports, to quietly flagging ways to make admin systems better - you're across it all. You bring structure to a busy environment and help the team shine.
To apply, please provide:
• A current resume detailing your relevant experience
• A brief cover letter (1-2 pages) introducing yourself to the panel and showcasing your skills, knowledge, attributes, and experience related to:
- Building strong relationships and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Applying analytical and problem-solving skills to support decision-making and improve processes.
- Managing multiple projects and business processes to deliver outcomes.
- Using information systems and digital tools to support regional engagement and reporting.
