Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Neurology Full time $104,000 - $160,000 per year

Taking care of people is our reason for being
At Sydney Adventist Hospital, fondly known as the San, caring for people is at the core of who we are. It's what drives us to deliver exceptional outcomes for our patients and it's a shared sense of purpose that extends to everyone who works here.

When you join our team, you'll feel valued and supported by our strong commitment to learning, flexibility, great benefits and a positive culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Some of the exceptional benefits we offer include

  • As a not-for-profit, we offer salary packaging that can reduce the amount of tax you pay, which can leave you with thousands of dollars more in your pocket.
  • Discounted gym membership for you and your family using Fitness Passport
  • Great on campus amenities including cafés, gift shop, florist and even a hairdresser
  • Plus, so many more.

What you will be doing in this role
In your role as an Advanced Trainee in Neurology, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working closely with the Admitting Medical Officer (AMO) to assess and manage neurology patients. You'll have the opportunity to conduct detailed patient assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and perform medical procedures, all while ensuring accurate and up-to-date medical records. Working in close partnership with the AMO, you will collaborate on patient care decisions and ensure each individual receives tailored, high-quality treatment. You'll also coordinate diagnostic testing, imaging, and specialist consultations as required to support the care pathway.

A key part of your role will be communicating with patients and their families about treatment options, potential risks, and expected outcomes, always with clarity and empathy. You'll also be involved in ward rounds, operating sessions, and outpatient clinic sessions as part of a roster. If a patient's condition changes, you'll respond promptly and keep the AMO informed.

Beyond clinical care, you'll play an important role in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to the education of medical students and junior medical officers (JMOs). This 12-month maximum-term position, starting in February 2026, will give you the chance to further develop your expertise in neurology in a supportive and dynamic learning environment, all while being part of a collaborative and compassionate team.

Who we're looking for

  • Commitment to the General and Acute Care Medicine Advanced Training program, including education, research, and ongoing professional development
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
