The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is a leading specialist medical college dedicated to improving healthcare in rural, remote and First Nations communities, and supporting and advocating for our members.
We are seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join our Operations portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to shape policy and advocacy initiatives that directly influence rural and remote health and medical education in Australia.
About the role
Working out of our head office in Brisbane, and reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Senior Policy Officer will:
Lead and contribute to the development of ACRRM's policy positions, submissions, and advocacy activities.
Provide expert policy advice to College leadership and represent ACRRM in high-level discussions across the sector.
Monitor and analyse health workforce, education, and rural health policy developments.
Build and sustain impactful relationships with government, industry, and health sector stakeholders.
Contribute to strategic projects and organisational development initiatives.
This role is suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can balance competing priorities, and is committed to making a tangible difference to healthcare outcomes in rural and remote Australia.
About you
We are looking for a highly motivated professional who brings:
5+ years' experience in senior policy, research, or analysis roles (health or human services preferred).
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant policy or research discipline.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with government and peak bodies.
Advanced analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear policy recommendations.
Familiarity with healthcare compliance and governance frameworks.
Leadership capability to guide and mentor junior staff.
High-level organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Understanding of remote and rural communities including remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the healthcare training and policy context would be of benefit.
