We are seeking a Senior Mine Engineer (Alternate) - Open Pit for the Kal East Gold Operation to help position the operation for long-term success. In addition, this position is required to carry out the statutory duties and responsibilities of the Quarry Manager during the Open Pit Manager's rostered absences from site.

The position is FIFO from Perth or residential from Kalgoorlie with a negotiable roster. Lakewood is ~6km from Kalgoorlie, with our mining operations located within a 40km radius of the centralised processing facility.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Open Pit Manager, as 2IC, the Senior Mine Engineer (Alternate)– Open Pit will provide support and leadership to the open pit team, responsible for mine planning, scheduling, designing and modelling for optimum ore extraction.

We're looking for someone eager to grow with us — with multiple new sites coming online in the next few years, there's a clear pathway for the right candidate to develop into an Open Pit Manager role.

About You

We are seeking a positive and motivated 'can do' individual with adaptive thinking, who enjoys autonomy in their role with an ability to prioritise, analyse and problem solve who has the following:

  • Tertiary qualification Mining Engineering and strong experience in open pit gold mining including leading a team.
  • WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate of competency.
  • Experience in open pit gold mining at the operational and planning level exposed to mine design, drill and blast, optimization and planning.
  • Commitment to training, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong user of mine planning and scheduling software packages preferably Deswik and/or Surpac.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in risk management, safety and environmental systems and legislative and statutory requirements.
