Senior Researcher Technologist

The key duties of the position include:

The Role
You will be responsible for leading and coordinating R&D towards the integration of Defence and industry sensor information in real-time. You will be coordinating across divisions and enabling capabilities as well as providing leadership to software engineers.

Candidates may commence on a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Positive Vetting Security Clearance as a condition of employment.

The role will require the successful candidate to:

• Contribute to a research program on Generic Reference Architectures for ISR systems integration and to develop:
  • Distributed micro-service applications.
  • Integration patterns for sensor and information systems integration.
  • Security protocols.
• Coordinate across multiple teams from various divisions to integrate data streams and foundational network connections.
• Generate new knowledge to produce enhanced capability for clients and sponsors in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capability.

About our Team

The position will be part of a team-of-teams conducting experimental research and development into software and information architectures to process, exploit, and disseminate ISR information in tactical and distributed settings.

The position will be responsible for steering and conducting research into novel and innovative approaches to achieve integration of military systems.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have:

• Strong foundation in software systems engineering, including in-depth understanding in at least one relevant area among; networking, computing, data, system architecture, distributed computing, cloud computing, cyber security, information security, or service orientated architectures.
• Proficiency in high level programming languages, operating systems, and networking protocols.
• Experience with Military Standards that are applicable to networking sensors and data applications is desirable but not essential.

Eligibility

Security Clearance
Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.

Mandatory Qualifications
The S&T5/EL1 Senior Technologist/Technician – C5 position requires:

• academic qualifications in one or more of the following related fields of research; or
• relevant vocational qualifications; or
• relevant skills and work experience.
