We are seeking an experienced State Engineer to join our team based at St Marys, NSW, reporting to the Regional Operations Manager (NSW/ACT).
In this pivotal role, you'll ensure the safe and efficient performance of plant and equipment by managing routine and preventative maintenance, repairs, and major shutdowns. You'll play a key part in optimising productivity, driving continuous improvement, and supporting major projects.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead maintenance, fault finding, repair, and shutdown activities to maximise plant performanceDrive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase productivityManage and mentor a team, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operationsPartner with Yard and Operations Managers to review and optimise equipment utilisationCollaborate with Project Engineering on new plant installations and commissioningEnsure compliance with all EHS, risk management, and statutory requirementsAssist with budgets, CAPEX planning, and cost managementWho We're Looking For
You are a proactive, hands-on engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You'll bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)Proven experience in plant/equipment maintenance, preferably within heavy industryExcellent people management and communication skillsStrong problem-solving, negotiation, and continuous improvement mindsetAbility to manage costs, budgets, and CAPEX planningResilience, agility, and confidence under pressureKnowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal and processing techniques (advantageous)Why Join Us?
