The role
We are currently seeking a Transport Sector Leader for QLD/NT to provide leadership and assist in optimizing resource utilisation and the delivery of expertise to ensure the best outcome for project delivery and will also coordinate the marketing activities within our Transport Sector, covering Roads & Highways, Rail & Metro, Ports & Maritime and Aviation.
Reporting to the Regional Directors across the Transport Sector the position provides transitional expertise, coordinated support for client services, reporting and business development activities for the Transport Sector. The incumbent will assist in overseeing the utilisation of all human and other resources in the provision of SMEC services across the Transport Sectors.
- Supports the transport leadership in providing strategic and operational direction;
- Assists the transport leadership in managing and achieve effective utilisation of all human and other resources in the provision of SMEC services;
- Supports the transport leadership team in coordinating and prioritising our national support services to the State Transport Sector teams;
- Provides transitional expertise, support for client services, reporting and business development activities.
The incumbent will role model SMEC values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.
You
The successful candidate will typically have 15+ years' industry experience, recognised as an authority in the transport infrastructure design market and would have undertaken Manager / Team Lead roles in similar engineering consulting organisations, demonstrating the ability to consistently:
- Manage multi-disciplinary projects successfully, to budget and client specifications
- Build trusting and productive client and stakeholder relationships
- Provides a key client facing or business development function for key pursuits and projects that have a large multi-sector component
- Have a change ready mindset that encourages cross pollination across regions, businesses, and sectors
- Produce major tender/proposal documents of an excellent standard and in a timely manner
- Manage a team effectively for performance and cohesion
- Recognised as a local authority in the transport industry
