About the Opportunity

We're currently seeking passionate and motivated Family Relationship Advisors to join our growing team. With multiple permanent opportunities available, both part-time and full-time, these roles offer the chance to make a real difference by supporting individuals and families across several of our Helplines, including Family Relationship Advice Line, Gambling Help Line, Redress and Seniors support lines, and more. You'll play a vital role in providing guidance, practical advice, and high-quality referrals to help clients navigate challenging life situations with confidence.

As a Family Relationships Advisor with RAQ, you'll be part of an organisation dedicated to creating positive change in the community, while working within a supportive team that values your growth and backs you in building a rewarding career.

Please note: You must be willing to work weekend and overnight shifts.

Additionally, you will:

• Provide responsive and high-quality support to clients, tailoring your response and interventions to their needs.
• Apply your knowledge of separation, parenting, and family dynamics to guide clients towards workable arrangements.
• Apply knowledge around vulnerable cohorts such as those experiencing addictions or experiencing abuse or looking for support at a difficult time.
• Assess client risk factors, including family violence or child safety concerns, and make appropriate referrals.
• Support individuals through crisis and connect them with the right service at the right time for them..
• Utilise client information systems to accurately record data and manage risk assessments.
• Contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and professional team environment

About You

You are a compassionate and skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by supporting individuals and families during times of need. With excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you bring empathy, resilience, and a strong commitment to best practice, cultural sensitivity, and client-centred support. You love contributing to team goals, driving continuous improvement, and actively receiving meaningful feedback and support to enhance your skills and professional growth.

Additionally, you have:

• An undergraduate qualification in Social or Behavioural Sciences (postgraduate qualifications and professional membership highly desirable).
• Experience in a call centre, counselling, or client service environment, ideally within community services.
• Knowledge of family separation, parenting arrangements, and the impacts of domestic and family violence and addictions
• Demonstrated ability to assess for risk, respond to crisis situations, and provide safe and appropriate referrals.
• The ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations peoples, CALD communities, and LGBTIQ+ clients.
• Strong computer literacy and confident use of Microsoft Office and client information systems.
