Lead eCommerce Software Developer

Magenable () is a Melbourne-based eCommerce consultancy specialising in Magento Open Source / Adobe Commerce solutions. We help Australian and international businesses succeed online by combining deep technical expertise, strong business knowledge, and a practical approach.
We are now seeking a Lead Developer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is technically strong, enjoys mentoring others, and wants to work on eCommerce projects.
What you'll do
- Lead the development of Magento Open Source / Adobe Commerce projects.
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing technical direction and code reviews.
- Work closely with clients and the Magenable team to design, build, and maintain high-performing eCommerce solutions.
- Apply your experience with AI/LLMs and RAG to bring intelligent, practical enhancements into eCommerce platforms.
- Architect and optimise solutions on AWS (EC2, RDS, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, SES, SNS).
What we're looking for
Must have:
- Relevant IT qualification: Adobe Certified Expert - Adobe Commerce Front-End Developer and Adobe Certified Expert-Adobe Commerce Developer
- 10+ years of overall software development experience.
- Strong skills in PHP, JavaScript, Tailwind, , and jQuery.
- 5+ years of hands-on Magento Open Source / Adobe Commerce experience, Luma, Hyva and headless solutions.
- Solid AWS experience (EC2, RDS, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, SES, SNS).
- Proven experience with AI/LLM and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Ability to mentor and advise less experienced developers.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same moment - prioritize and manage expectations.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Shopify apps development and themes coding
- Experience with BigCommerce
- Contribution to open-source projects.
