Business Support Officer

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Business Support Officer in Canberra to work on Land projects

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Mailbox & Task Management
  : Monitor the LC4S LBAM SPO group mailbox and respond to incoming tasks and enquiries in a timely manner.
• Records & Documentation Accuracy
  : Maintain accurate records using Defence's Records Management System (Objective) to ensure compliance and traceability.
• Workforce Administration Support
  : Coordinate induction and separation activities, including managing Outlook distribution lists under BM direction.
• Procurement & Licence Enquiry Support
  : Assist with queries related to procurement processes and commercial software licences.
• Organisational & Financial Support
  : Maintain the organisational chart and undertake minor financial tasks as required to support team operations.

What You'll Bring

• Administrative Coordination & Task Management
  : Ability to monitor shared mailboxes, respond to enquiries, and manage routine administrative tasks efficiently.
• Records Management Proficiency
  : Experience using Defence's Records Management System (Objective) to maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
• Workforce Support & Onboarding
  : Capability to coordinate induction and separation activities, including managing distribution lists and organisational charts.
• Basic Financial & Procurement Knowledge
  : Familiarity with minor financial processes and handling procurement-related enquiries, including software licensing.
• Stakeholder Communication & Travel Coordination
  : Strong interpersonal skills to assist with travel-related queries and liaise effectively across Defence teams.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
