About the role

We're excited to announce a full-time position is now available at York Mitre 10, part of the York & District Co-operative Ltd.

As the Store Manager, you'll lead and motivate the Mitre 10 team to deliver exceptional customer service to the local community, builders, and trades. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, drive sales, and ensure the store continues to grow and succeed.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people management, sales performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily store operations, including rostering, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Drive sales and margin targets, implementing strategies to improve results.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, KPIs, and financial reports.
  • Manage stock levels and merchandising standards.
  • Lead, train, and develop your team to deliver outstanding service.
  • Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Ensure operations align with the Store Manager's Handbook and company policies.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a retail management role (hardware, building, garden, or similar industry preferred).
  • Strong retail, sales, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and achieve sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to work weekdays and weekends.
