RUSWIN is a leading Regional Queensland provider of Electronic Security Systems and Locksmith Services, proudly serving our community for over 50 years. We're now inviting motivated applicants to join our Townsville team as an Electronic Security Apprentice starting in 2026.

About the Job:

As an apprentice, you'll get hands-on experience installing and maintaining CCTV, alarms, access control, surveillance systems, data cabling and data networks - the technology that keeps people and places safe.

This four-year apprenticeship combines paid, on-the-job training with TAFE Queensland study, so you can earn while you learn. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, gain industry certifications, and take on varied jobs across different sites (with some travel and occasional after-hours work).

We welcome school leavers and adult apprentices who are keen to build a rewarding career in a high-tech, fast-growing industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

We're looking for someone who's motivated to learn, takes pride in their work, and enjoys working with technology. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Honesty, reliability, and a strong work ethic
  • Technical aptitude – comfortable with computers and eager to learn more about electronics
  • Practical skills – confident using hand and power tools
  • Problem-solving mindset – able to think on your feet and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Team player attitude – willing to support others and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Current driver's licence (or working towards one – manual licence preferred)
  • Professional presentation and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills
  • Adaptability – keen to learn new technologies and keep up with industry changes
  • Commitment to safety – always following procedures and looking out for your team
  • Strong time management – able to stay organised and meet deadlines

Suitable applicants should also be prepared to:

  • Undertake a National Police Check
  • Complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Obtain a Security Provider Licence
  • Obtain a Blue Card – Working with Children Check
