THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced Resource Development Superintendents to join the team at Ora Banda.

The responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Responsible for supporting the Manager Resource Development by coordinating the activities of the site Resource Development team
  • Coordinate, supervise and provide technical mentoring and training to field personnel to foster an industry best-practice approach to all geology functions.
  • Solutions focussed mindset - taking on challenges, brainstorming ideas to resolve bottlenecks and implement actions to support a business improvement approach
  • Coordinate and supervise drilling programs and drilling contractors to achieve the drill schedule and planned spend
  • Liaise closely with our customers to ensure collection of appropriate data required for robust resource/reserve models and mine planning
  • Coordinate the interpretation and wireframing of lithology, faults/shears, lodes/mineralisation, alteration, oxide-fresh rock boundaries in readiness for handover to the Principal Resource Geologists
  • Coordinate geological mapping (including historical pit mapping) and geochemical sampling programs for target generation and definition as required.
  • Maintain geological databases by ensuring data validation and QAQC checks are completed by the site Resource Development team
  • Critically review and continuously improve brownfields and resource development targets and targeting techniques (geophysics, structural geology, geochemistry).
  • Collaborate with the mine geology site teams, to harness and document deposit knowledge, and share geology knowledge for the commencement of new mining operations.
  • Develop relationships with key contractors and business partners (drilling, laboratory, consultants, JV partners, etc) to ensure success for all resource programs and feedback loops to the Resource Development team to improve
  • Professional development plans for the team, focussing on "on-the-job" training, coaching, mentoring and some formal courses.
  • Review, update and improve procedures, guidelines and documentation of Resource Development processes by working collaboratively with the Exploration team for shared documents.
  • Assist to compile brownfields and resource targets to fuel the project pipeline and advance projects through to the Resource modelling team.
  • Produce all required technical plans and sections to an industry best-practice standard.
  • Regularly report on program status via daily reports, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Provide input into project reviews, resource modelling and budgeting.
  • Record quality data and report on drilling, environmental rehabilitation and tenement activities.
  • Timely delivery of validated, quality drilling data to the Perth DBAs.

ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:  

  • Tertiary qualified Geologist with recent and relevant regional exploration experience (ideally 10+ years postgraduate).
  • Completion of statutory supervisor training with DMPE for adherence to Work Health and Safety Regulation requirements
  • Strong leadership skills - ability to motivate geologists and field staff to achieving goals, foster high work quality and a winning team culture
  • General geological experience including geological modelling, sampling techniques and reserve and resource estimation.
  • Drill supervision experience.
  • Be passionate about making a new discovery and converting ounces into Resource.
  • Exposure to mining, mine geology, and operational experience is highly regarded.
  • Current C-Class manual drivers' licence.
  • Be computer literate, including a competent user of industry standard mining and GIS software, preferably Micromine, Leapfrog and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across various site and Perth-based teams.
