The Organisational Change team is a part of the wider Organisational Development, Change and Inclusion function. This team is involved in providing a range of change management capability development, advice and consultancy services for the Department of Health and typically supports in change projects that are higher in priority, risk or complexity. The Principal Advisor is a key role in the team, delivering a hands on service to support senior client groups. The change team also support projects withing the HR branch that fit the within its remit. The successful applicant will possess a range of skills including change coaching, group facilitation, communications, change impact analysis and implementation of change tactics. This role is available until July 2026 as the substantive incumbent is deployed on a longer term change project.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, plan and manage capability development strategies to address change capability gaps across all levels of employees in the department.
  • Independently research, analyse and formulate organisational change and capability development solutions and initiatives that address current and future needs and contribute to the strategic direction of Queensland Health.
  • Deliver authoritative strategic and tactical advice to key clients and stakeholders on organisational change and effectiveness and provide capability development strategies and solutions to address needs.
  • Provide the primary contribution to key capability development, leadership and management initiatives.
  • Build and maintain productive and respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet strategic, business and operational objectives across the department.
  • Analyse complex organisational issues and provide guidance to internal stakeholders through the interpretation of relevant legislative and industrial requirements including defined service quality standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Proven success in contributing to the delivery of a broad range of capability development initiatives that contribute to the readiness, effectiveness and high performance of employees in a large, complex organisation.
  • Extensive and detailed knowledge of contemporary capability development and change management theory and practical application.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage major change initiatives or projects, priorities and tasks to meet deadlines and achieve high level results at the organisational level.
  • Proven high level interpersonal communication, facilitation, negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within a team environment.
