We are partnered with a client who is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join their dedicated finance team. What you will do:

  • Process supplier invoices efficiently and accurately, ensuring payments comply with company policies and deadlines.
  • Regularly reconcile supplier statements, promptly resolving any issues to maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs (e.g., electronic transfers or cheques) while adhering to approval processes.
  • Respond to supplier queries politely and clearly to build trust and positive partnerships.
  • Assist with month-end tasks such as preparing accruals, journals, and reconciliations for the finance team.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions to meet audit and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement) to ensure smooth processing of purchase orders and invoice approvals.
  • Provide feedback on current processes and contribute to projects aimed at improving efficiency in accounts payable.
  • Support the onboarding of new suppliers by collecting required documents, setting up accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Offer backup support to finance team members during busy periods or absences, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in accounts payable or similar finance roles within medium-to-large organisations, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Skilled in using accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MYOB, Xero) and proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills to build trust and collaborate effectively with suppliers, colleagues, and management.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and high-quality work.
  • A team-oriented approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and support others for collective success.
  • Problem-solving abilities to quickly resolve discrepancies or issues while staying calm under pressure.
  • Experience contributing to process improvements or projects that enhance efficiency in finance functions is highly valued.
  • A positive attitude towards learning new systems or processes as part of ongoing professional growth.
