PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Senior frontend developer will take a technical delivery lead on building and maintaining the new Leadership Learning Resource application. This is a hands-on role, requiring technical expertise across the software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of new systems and features, as well as modifying and maintaining existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes. You'll partner with Backend Developers and Designers to define and deliver new features, test new concepts and assist with final implementation. Details are critical as you iterate on complex interactions, animations and pixel-perfect UI implementation. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate concepts into living, breathing prototypes, as well as production level code sound software engineering principles.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Execute design with the use of but not limited to CSS/SASS, HTML, JS and ensuring best practice coding standards are achieved.
  • Collaborate with, and synthesize feedback from BA's and designers to prototype user screens.
  • Work closely with back-end developers as well as the UX designer, Tech Lead and Project Manager
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives (Agile/Scrum practices).
  • Liaise with the product architect and developers on software design, dependencies and code maintainability
  • Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members. Participate in proofs-of-concepts. Innovate and effectively transition and scale those concepts into production at scale.
  • Design, develop, modify, implement, and support software components anywhere in the software stack.
  • Determine root cause for complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
  • Remain current on new technologies and available vendor packages; evaluate and make recommendations, as necessary.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in UI and Front-end development
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is essential.
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, (VueJS 3 is essential, Angular, React)
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design & implementation
  • Demonstrate strong technical sense across the big picture through to the detail
  • Experience in creating cross-browser, cross-platform web applications
  • Experience with modern front end task runner and build system (npm, vite)
  • Accessibility development experience. Experience developing WCAG compliant websites/applications for government clients (Level AA) would be highly desired.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Understanding of backend engineering processes and concepts.
  • You are passionate about building and developing good engineering practices and processes, like test driven development, continuous integration, and build/test/release automation.
  • Being able to assist with testing on multiple devices, platforms and browsers
  • Experience working with cloud-based environments, serverless and microservices. E.g. NodeJS, AWS Lambda, Azure Kubernetes.
  • Passion for usability, efficiency and performant code
  • Provide examples of previous code in Github
