Located in Melbourne's leafy Eastern suburbs, BASScare is seeking a skilled and dedicated 
Maintenance Coordinator
 to join our team in a full-time, permanent position at our Samarinda Lodge site in Ashburton, while also supporting other BASScare sites.

The Role

The Maintenance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring our buildings are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. You will provide high-quality, customer-focused maintenance services and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure compliance with the 
Aged Care Quality Standards
 and relevant safety legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and carrying out routine maintenance, reactive repairs, and safety checks across all BASScare buildings.
  • Conducting preventative maintenance to reduce risks, breakdowns, and interruptions to service delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative and aged care requirements (Essential Services, WHS, Hazardous Substances, and Aged Care Quality Standards 5 & 8).
  • Managing and overseeing external contractors for specialised services.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance schedules, compliance registers, and inspections.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management.
  • Liaising with suppliers and ordering parts/equipment as required.
  • Assisting with refurbishments and renovations of resident rooms, apartments, and units.
  • Performing minor plastering, carpentry, and painting repairs.
  • Inspecting and cleaning drains and stormwater pits.
  • Pressure cleaning driveways and walkways.
  • Keeping bin storage areas, courtyards, and grounds clean, safe, and free from hazards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance/facilities coordination, preferably in 
    aged care, retirement living, health, or community settings
    .
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • General handy-person skills (trade qualification desirable).
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and prioritise in a busy environment with multiple demands.
  • Initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Physical capacity to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Link FM and ionMy.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Current satisfactory Police Check.

Hours of Work & Location

  • Full-Time, Permanent
    : 5 days per week, 9:00 am - 5:06 pm.
  • Primary base at 
    Samarinda Lodge (Ashburton)
     with responsibilities across other BASScare sites (Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Balwyn North and Glen Iris).
