Claims Officer – Latent & Special Risk

  • Open to Parramatta or Melbourne Location
  • Permanent, Full-Time role

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Liability Claims Officer to manage Latent & Special Risk claims on a permanent full-time basis. The role will see you proactively manage a portfolio of highly sensitive, confidential and historical Liability claims ensuring that quality customer service is provided.

The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:

  • Efficient management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims
  • Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed
  • Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards
  • Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties
  • Self-audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits
  • Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines

Your story so far

  • Strong technical claims experience and expertise in managing complex Latent & Special Risk claims is preferred.
  • Strong technical claims expertise in specialty classes of insurance, including managing complex bodily injury, including psychiatric and psychological injury, with sound decision-making based on technical, investigative, and medical reports.
  • Proven understanding of underwriting procedures and policy wordings across a diversified liability portfolio.
  • Skilled in engaging and collaborating with external providers such as loss adjusters, lawyers, and consultants.
  • Expert knowledge and practical application of the General Insurance Code of Practice.
  • Effective relationship-building with clients and customers, maintaining confidentiality and resilience.
  • Capable of participating in alternative dispute resolution processes.
