About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent at Ironbark No.1, the Mechanical Longwall Coordinator primarily focuses on coordinating and planning mechanical maintenance activities, allocating personnel and equipment to activities, and reporting outcomes to achieve production and maintenance targets. All this needs to be achieved whilst complying with safety, production, budgetary and environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

• The planning and coordination of mechanical maintenance which include, statutory, routine, and predictive maintenance within the underground Longwall.
• Provide technical advice and attend to breakdowns where required.
• Supervision of major maintenance outage to deliver on-time start-up.
• Actively participate in root cause analysis and defect elimination to deliver equipment reliability.
• Perform mechanical inspections and conducting audits to ensure that all mechanical work is being carried out to legislative requirements and mine standards.
• Coaching and mentoring of mechanical trades.
• Planning, coordination and execution of longwall panel retreat and relocations.
• Site introduction of new and overhauled equipment and commissioning.

Got what it takes?

• Mechanical trade qualification or engineering degree
• Significant previous experience working in underground coal operations with at least 2 years' experience as a Mechanical Coordinator.
• 5 years' experience in a supervisory/leadership role
• Supervisor Qualifications (G1,8,9 and G2)
• Standard 11 – Surface and Underground
• Current Driver's licence
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to foster and maintain a positive safety culture
• Strong leadership and ability to motivate a high performing team
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills with a "can do" attitude.
• Proficient in computer systems including MS Office, Pulse (or similar) databases etc.
• Flexible work attitude and sound work ethic.
