About the Role

We're looking for an experienced
Senior Payroll Officer
to take the lead in delivering accurate, timely payroll across our national operations. Based at our Brisbane head office, you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with awards and legislation, supporting our people with clear and professional payroll advice, and driving process improvements that make a real impact. Role Responsibilities

  • Manage Employee Records
    : Oversee onboarding, banking and super updates, salary adjustments, allowances, deductions, and terminations.
  • Run Full Payroll Cycles
    : Deliver accurate, timely payroll for 400 employees across multiple states and Awards.
  • Ensure Compliance
    : Interpret an Enterprise Agreement, multiple Awards, and legislation to maintain payroll accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Process Statutory Obligations
    : Handle PAYG, superannuation, child support, and other government requirements.
  • Handle Complex Transactions
    : Calculate redundancies, back pays, and overpayment recoveries with confidence.
  • Reporting
    : Prepare detailed payroll reports for EOM and EOFY, supporting financial transparency.
  • Collaborate & Improve
    : Work closely with internal teams to resolve payroll queries and enhance systems and processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum
    4 years' experience
    in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large organisation.
  • Familiarity with
    MicroPay, Xero, and BioTime
    is a strong advantage, but not essential.
  • Solid understanding of
    Australian payroll legislation
    , taxation, and superannuation.
  • Proven ability to interpret multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements — experience with the
    Horticulture Award
    is highly valued, but not essential.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
    — confident working with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of payroll processes.
