2. Position Summary
The Senior Complex Program Coordinator is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of high-quality support for participants with complex, Forensic and challenging behaviours and or need. This position requires a unique blend of clinical insight, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to person-centred care.
You will be the primary lead in conducting sophisticated risk assessments, championing the adoption and fidelity of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies, and ensuring the ethical governance of restrictive practices. Through holistic case management, you will ensure the seamless delivery of support that aligns with the participant's NDIS plans and personal aspirations.
3. Key Responsibilities & Tasks
A. Complex Risk Assessment & Management
- Conduct comprehensive, dynamic, and environmental risk assessments for participants with complex behavioural presentations.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review detailed Risk Management Plans to mitigate risks to participants, staff, and the community.
- Lead critical incident debriefs and formulate proactive strategies to prevent recurrence.
B. Adoption & Implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Provide high-level supervision and oversight in the development and implementation of individualised PBS plans in consultation with Specialised Behaviour Support Practitioners.
- Coach and mentor frontline staff in the consistent application of proactive and responsive strategies, ensuring the reduction of behaviours of concern and the enhancement of quality of life.
- Monitor the fidelity of PBS plan implementation and make data-driven adjustments as required.
C. Holistic Case Management & Person-Centred Support Delivery
- Act as the primary case coordinator for a designated caseload of participants with complex needs.
- Develop and oversee the delivery of holistic, person-centred support plans that integrate all aspects of a participant's life (health, social, community participation, daily living).
- Build strong, professional relationships with participants, their families, and advocates to ensure support is collaborative and effective.
D. Implementation & Reporting of Restrictive Practices
- Oversee the strict implementation of authorised Restrictive Practices in accordance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements and state-based legislation.
- Prepare and submit all required reporting for Restrictive Practices, including Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and interim reports, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory timeframes.
- Champion the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices through the promotion of positive and proactive strategies.
E. Evidence & Data Collection for Reporting
- Design and manage systems for robust data collection related to behaviours of concern, PBS strategies, and participant outcomes.
- Analyse complex data to formulate, evaluate, and revise comprehensive individual Care Plans.
Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for various stakeholders, including:
Supported Independent Living (SIL) Reports for NDIS review.
- Capacity Building Reports demonstrating progress towards participant goals.
- Internal performance and outcome reports for management.
F. Leadership & Capacity Building
- Provide clinical guidance and leadership to a team of Support Workers and Junior Coordinators.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs focused on complex support, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care.
4. Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or a related health/allied health field.
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a complex case management or behavioural support role within the disability or mental health sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting complex risk assessments and developing risk management plans.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in the implementation and supervision of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) frameworks.
- Thorough understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards, particularly relating to behaviour support and restrictive practices.
- Exceptional report-writing skills with experience producing SIL, capacity building, and behaviour support reports.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret behavioural data to inform clinical decision-making.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with participants, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable:
- Registration as a Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (or ability to obtain).
- 3 to 5 years of experience working with clients with multiple and complex needs.
- Experience in providing clinical supervision to staff.
- Training in trauma-informed care and/or forensic disability support.
5. Compliance Requirements
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
- Satisfactory National Police Check.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Right to work in Australia.
