Location: Victoria, AU

Company: The Smith Family

  • Help young Australians to improve their long-term educational outcomes
  • Flexible work arrangements to give you more balance, including hybrid working
  • Permanent full-time position based in Werribee, VIC

The Smith Family is a national children's education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures.

About the role

Our Learning for Life program provides emotional, practical and financial support to help children and young people experiencing disadvantage with their education. Our support starts in the early years of learning development and continues through primary and high school.

As part of the Learning for Life team, the Programs Coordinator works with families and partner schools in the Werribee community, to coordinate the delivery of the Learning for Life suite of programs, including the development and maintenance of key school partnerships.

As a Programs Coordinator, you will:

  • Taking a data-led approach, identify the needs of schools and the community to determine suitable program implementation
  • Develop and maintain purposeful relationships with partner schools and other community organisations to support the delivery of a core suite of programs
  • Provide recognition, support and training to program delivery volunteers
  • Provide support in the maintenance and/or delivery of our suite of education-focussed programs
  • Contribute as a valued member of a local Learning for Life Team, and collaborate with the broader organisation
  • Focus on personal and professional growth, including on-the-job skill development and regular coaching with your leader

Hear from those in the role - "It's incredibly rewarding to organise a diverse range of evidence-based programs that genuinely impact students' lives. The relationships you build with schools, families, and the local community are truly special." - Programs Coordinator

  • Capability to work autonomously; organising your own day, problem solving and adapting when things don't go to plan
  • Computer literacy and motivation; completing administrative or data entry tasks and achieving goals
