About the role

Taylors Lakes Hotel is seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Senior Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our busy kitchen, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative cuisine in a fast-paced environment. This full-time position is based in Taylors Lakes, VIC 3038.

What you'll be doing

  1. Assisting the Head Chef in planning, organising and directing kitchen operations
  2. Overseeing the preparation, cooking and presentation of all menu items
  3. Execute each station with precision, consistency and lead by example
  4. Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
  5. Manage the pass and drive the kitchen team
  6. Fill in for the Head Chef during times of absence
  7. Mentoring and training junior kitchen staff to develop their skills
  8. Participating in menu development and costing
  9. Confidently managing inventory, waste and ordering of supplies
  10. Monitor prep work and production processes
  11. Maintain consistency in taste, quality and presentation across all dishes
  12. Providing exemplary customer service to all guests
  13. Create and promote a fun work environment

What we're looking for

  1. Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef or equivalent role in a hotel environment or busy restaurant
  2. Strong leadership and team management skills
  3. Positive attitude
  4. High attention to detail and finesse
  5. Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  6. Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  7. Passion for creating innovative, high-quality cuisine
  8. Qualifications in Culinary Arts or equivalent training
