Interim Media & Government Relations Lead – Energy Sector
A leading international energy company is seeking an experienced interim communications professional to support its media and government relations activity in Australia. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at VP level, focused on shaping the media narrative, managing key stakeholders across state and federal government, and supporting regulatory engagement during a period of corporate transition, whilst having additional agency support.
Interim Media Relations & Government Relations Responsibilities
Lead on media management and proactive narrative shaping around the transaction
Manage relationships with state and federal government stakeholders, including energy departments and key political offices
Support engagement with regulators to ensure alignment and continuity
Collaborate closely with retained external advisors and the in-house deal team
Ensure alignment between corporate communications, investor messaging, and public affairs
Candidate Profile for Interim Media Relations & Government Relations
Proven experience in media relations and/or government affairs within the energy or infrastructure sector in Australia
Strong understanding of the political and regulatory landscape, including experience working with or influencing energy ministries
Comfortable operating at VP level – must be execution-oriented, strategic, and highly collaborative
Confident working at pace and under pressure, with sound judgement and discretion
Willingness and ability to travel across Australia as needed
