Our Cowal gold operation (CGO)is located 40km Northeast of West Wyalong in NSW. This site is residential meaning our employees return to their own home each night rather than a camp. West Wyalong has many schools, restaurants and sporting teams and is close to several regional centres. **About the role**
Reporting to the, Open Pit Mining Manager the Specialist Operational Improvement has responsibility for delivering data driven improvements in productivity and costs through identification, analysis, project formation and execution within the mining operations department. This will involve engaging technical and operational personnel to input, collaborate and execute identified improvement projects, build improvement into existing processes and systems, and build improvements into the mine plans in the monthly, quarterly, yearly horizons.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Identifying data driven improvement opportunities in cost and productivity
- Formulating improvement projects, quantify improvement opportunities, and set relevant KPIs
- Working with other departments both within mining and across the value chain to implement actions, track KPIs and achieve improvement outcomes.
- Creating and implementing systems to track business improvement projects at a department and site level
- Identifying and implementing process or system improvements that will help consistently deliver the budget
- Delivering results aligned to the CGO Balanced Business Plan
- Acting in production and / or technical leadership roles as required
- Incorporating improvements into the regular planning cycles (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly - LOM)
- Managing data/mine systems personnel for Open Pit Mining.
- Understanding and supporting the CGO environment management system.
- Demonstrating behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values
**About you**
To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas. Experience using data analytics to identify opportunities and confirm value-adding business improvement. Teamwork specifically the ability to work with others to get the job done. You must have Project planning, execution and control.It is essential that you have a high level computer literacy, including spread sheet and database development. You will be able to identify ways to improve and raise performance, to build your own and others capability. The right person will behave in a way that supports Evolution Mining’s values and be committed to safety, the role, the team, and the organisation.
We are looking for people who have the following skills and qualifications:
- Degree (or recognised equivalent) qualification in an Engineering and/or Business discipline
- Experience in mine planning and / or operations and / or technical services in open pit mining.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering business and process improvements
- Prior exposure to the mining industry would be advantageous
- Demonstrate leadership, a collaborative approach and enthusiasm for engaging others
