The Skeletal Diseases Program (co-led by Profs Mike Rogers and Jackie Center) is one of six new strategic research programs at the Garvan Institute. This multi-disciplinary team consists of laboratory-based and clinical researchers working together, with national and international partners, to address major challenges in bone health, with a specific focus on osteoporosis and cancer-associated bone disease. With the generous support of Mrs Janice Gibson and the Ernest Heine Family Foundation (EHFF), the Program is undertaking ground-breaking avenues of research in two key areas of osteoporosis: the cellular control of bone loss (led by Prof Peter Croucher, A/Prof Tri Phan and A/Prof Michelle McDonald), and causes of mortality after fracture and therapeutic interventions (led by Prof Jackie Center, Prof Mike Rogers and Dr Marcia Munoz). A Project Officer position is now available to provide key support to this exciting initiative and to enable the Program’s longer-term research strategy and objectives.
