Canberra, Australia Australian Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Full time

**Contact Officer**:
**Closing Date**:
**11.59pm AEST,**Sunday 25 May 2025**

**The opportunity we have available**:
The **Access, Participation and Inclusion Section**, within the **Creative Economy and the Arts Group** (which includes the **Office for the Arts**), is a policy section responsible for developing and delivering a range of initiatives under _Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place_ - Australia’s Cultural Policy (_Revive_). The key priority for the section is implementing _Equity: the Arts and Disability Associated Plan_ _(the Plan)_ under _Revive_ and _Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031_. The section is also responsible for progressing arts and mental health outcomes under _Revive_; oversight of social cohesion and multicultural initiatives under _Revive_ and policy issues on arts and social cohesion; and whole-of-Australian Government disability, mental health and social cohesion policy engagement.

The Plan was released on 14 November 2024. The Plan is a four-year roadmap of activities to build the foundations for equity for artists, arts workers and audiences with disability across Australia, with an $8.1 million investment in actions to drive change. The Plan is being delivered in partnership with Creative Australia and close consultation with Screen Australia.

Under the Plan, the Australian Government committed to establish a new disability affirmative role to support implementation of the Plan. This forms part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring people with disability take part in the development and implementation of disability policy.

The Assistant Director (Affirmative Measures - Disability) position will lead a small team to support the administration and operation of the Plan’s Implementation Advisory Group (Advisory Group), which is an advisory body made up of people with disability from diverse backgrounds and with experience in the arts, screen, digital games and cultural sectors. The Plan’s Implementation Advisory Group is currently in the process of being established and expects to meet for the first time in mid-2025, with between 4-8 meetings held annually to:

- Consider and shape implementation of key actions and commitments under the Plan
- Contribute to the Plan’s monitoring and reporting activities
- Design the Plan’s evaluation framework.

The Advisory Group will have up to 13 people with disability from diverse backgrounds as paid members, and a number of government representatives. Meetings will primarily be virtual, and will be facilitated by a person with disability.

There are multiple streams of activity underway to support the implementation of the Plan, and the Advisory Group will need to be engaged with many of these activities, so there is an opportunity to work closely with all members of the section, as well as with Creative Australia and Screen Australia, to deliver the Plan.

**What will you do?**:
You will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Advisory Group, including:

- Providing strategic support to the group so they can work effectively to shape actions and activities under the Plan - this includes by:

- developing key strategic planning documents for the group (such as annual workplans); and
- working with other members of the Access, Participation and Inclusion section, as well as Creative Australia and Screen Australia, to develop material to support them to engage the Advisory Group on key actions under the Plan.
- Providing secretariat support for the group, including scheduling meetings, distributing papers, preparing and circulating minutes and developing communications material for the Advisory Group (if required).
- Undertaking activities to ensure all members of the Advisory Group can equitably take part in the deliberations of the group, including managing accessibility arrangements for all activities.
- Undertaking procurement and managing contracts to support the Advisory Group’s activities.

You will also:

- supervise a staff member, and
- contribute to the section’s cross-government engagement on disability policy matters, including by preparing formal briefings or developing other communications material such as correspondence or reports.

**Who we are looking for**:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate your ability to:

- Achieve results through effective planning and analytical thinking, including by:

- identifying, understanding and explaining the frameworks and policies that govern the activities and processes for which you are responsible.
- maintaining awareness of the broader factors and influences that may impact on work objectives.
- demonstrating adaptability and resilience to changing circumstances, and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Communicate with influence, including that you can prepare high-quality written materials, such as meeting papers, reports and other correspondence, that are fluent, persuasive and tailored for their
