**The Role**
As an Assistant Director (EL1) in the Measurement & Evaluation team, you will lead a team to help measure and evaluate the efficacy and impact of Australian Education policy and programs.

Measurement and Evaluation has a dynamic and varied work program, supporting all of the department’s major policy areas. The team develops customised measurement and evaluation solutions across a range of scales, time horizons, and pathways to impact.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

- Designing and planning evaluation, working closely with policy areas to undertake evaluation processes and implement recommendations.
- Providing expert advice on the design of education assessments, surveys and other data collection instruments to ensure or evaluate their validity, reliability and relevance.
- Analysing integrated and custom datasets to evaluate the impact of policies and programs, including administrative data, surveys, benchmarking and financial data.
- Developing toolkits, training and other resources to increase the department’s measurement and evaluation capability.
- Designing and implementing strategic projects to consolidate findings, enhance measurement and evaluation capability across the department and communicate effectively to senior executives.
- Leading and managing a team of junior staff to deliver these functions.

**Qualifications and Education**
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable for this position, preferably in a field that regularly conducts quantitative causal inference (e.g. randomised trials or quasi-experimental designs).

This may include psychology, behavioural science, epidemiology, public health, econometrics, biostatistics, data science, or other fields including research and quantitative analysis methods.
