**About the role**:
As the Major Development Planning Manager, you will be responsible for planning the provision of services to the emerging communities and for establishment of necessary infrastructure agreements required to ensure equitable assignment of cost and responsibility for delivery of necessary infrastructure. With a strong interface across the business, this position is key to ensuring engagement of stakeholders to deliver outcomes. Leading a small team, you will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Managers to develop, implement, and manage internal and external stakeholders in relation to our strategic planning and asset reliability. Another key component of this position will be facilitating sustainable and timely development of the emerging communities by:
- Actively supporting the Councils in facilitation of sustainable planned development by establishing servicing plans for the emerging communities.
- Managing risk arising from development of land outside of the Future Connections Area and ensuring that the executive and Board are kept informed of the level of risk.
- Negotiating terms and conditions of water infrastructure agreements to mitigate financial risk while providing reasonable terms for timely progression of planned development.
- Providing technical advice to support preparation of submissions about future and existing Planning Schemes in respect of proposed or planned development outside of Unitywater’s Future Connections Area.
- Working with the Planning and Engineering teams to deliver the required Concept and Detailed Business Cases to support investment in projects
**About you**:

- Engineering degree (ideally Civil or Environmental), with significant experience within a utilities or an infrastructure environment, and a focus on asset planning.
- A strong understanding of infrastructure planning, demand forecasting, and water industry regulatory environment.
- Previous experience leading a team is preferable, and the ability to identify where technical, social or commercial processes need improvement and implement what is required to ensure outcomes are delivered.
- Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with experience in liaising and consulting at Board and Executive level, and with Developers and other internal and external stakeholders.
