**About the team**
You will be apart of the new Communications Operations Team within a large NSW Government Agency, tasked with high levels of responsibility to support the new and exciting state-wide asset management programs to improve and serve the community.
**About the Role**
The Communications and Engagement Manager will be managing a range of activities to support end to end communications and engagement functions for the team, and facilitate the achievement of program and organisational objectives.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide strategic advice to the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager and Communications Operations Director.
- Manage the development and implementation of communications, engagement, and media of projects.
- Work in partnership with other teams in the department to establish, manage and deliver project communication and engagement plans, proactive and reactive media, providing quality assurance mechanisms and reporting processes that comply with the department’s policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement and evaluate best practice communication and engagement strategies to effectively engage a range of different communities and key stakeholders around asset planning.
- Manage the implementation of a range of community and stakeholder engagement tools and techniques and implement a range of appropriate communication tools and materials to support engagement, tailored to different audiences.
- Monitor and report on the interests of community and key stakeholders, assess program and project risks and provide recommendations to senior executives on how to best manage complex and contentious issues.
- Successfully project manage a number of different communication and engagement activities so that they are delivered on time and on budget.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community representatives, school and departmental staff to support the successful delivery of communication and engagement programs.
- Identify, anticipate and respond to emerging and complex issues, and devise and develop appropriate solutions and alternative options, to effectively manage and mitigate risks and achieve desired outcomes.
**About you**
- Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience within
communications or community engagement.
- Over 5 years of proven stakeholder management experience and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects or reactive issues with varying communication priorities and sensitivities.
- Able to respond to emerging urgent matters and deal with complex and contentious issues, competing projects and tight timeframes, in a politically sensitive and high pressure environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills to be able to communicate across various levels of stakeholders.
- Highly skilled in negotiation and consultation, to be able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, often with varying interests, viewpoints and needs.
