**About the Role**
The Research Fellow in Plant Natural Product Biosynthesis will focus on characterising the biochemical pathways for flavonoid biosynthesis in eucalypts, specifically investigating the molecular mechanisms of flavonoid O- and C-methylation. This role involves both applied and basic research, contributing to the development of plantation eucalypts as a commercial source of flavonoids through collaboration with industry.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Significantly contribute towards the research effort of the team and to develop your research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
- In collaboration of Senior Academic staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
- Actively participate at School meetings and with guidance, contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences.
- Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne
**Who We Are Looking For**
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and oral communication abilities in English. You demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and positively in a multidisciplinary research-based team environment, effectively liaising with people from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, you possess exceptional organisational skills to meet deadlines and ensure timely project completion.
You will also have:
- Completion of a PhD in plant molecular biology or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in transcriptomics, cloning methods and recombinant protein expression.
- A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
- Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic research career trajectory.
