**Talent International** is currently recruiting for a **Media Officer **to work for an** NSW Government **based in **Leichhardt**. **The position is **3-month contract role with the possibility of extension** and are paying between **$51.76 per hour to $61.40 per hour + Super (**Rate of Pay dependent upon experience**).**

8 hours a day / 38 hours a week

**Description**:
We are looking for x1 Media Officer to join the team.

The client is seeking a media officer to join a small but busy team, producing positive stories about the service, responding to media inquiries from journalists regarding Triple Zero (000) incidents.

Looking for someone with mainstream media experience who loves telling great stories and enjoys a fast-paced environment. Participating in an on-call roster is required.

Hours: Varying shift start times from 7am to 11am.

**Primary purpose of the role**:
Develop, deliver and manage a range of media related activities, including responses to media enquiries, attending incidents, preparation of media releases, ministerial announcements, media campaigns and media issues management. This role will have occasional liaison with Ministerial Offices to deliver effective and relevant media services in a manner that reflects organisational priorities and upholds and promotes the reputation of the client.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Develop and draft responses to media enquiries and issues to provide timely and appropriate responses in a way that mitigates risk and promotes the reputation of the client and its service delivery.
- Draft a range of media materials for stakeholders and corporate spokespersons, including media briefings, executive media briefings, media statements and media releases.
- Assist in the implementation and coordination of media conferences, launches, campaigns, incident communications and other media projects to support the client policy and operational priorities and to communicate key messages relating to initiatives, service delivery and proactive news stories.
- Capacity to develop compelling media content and a sound working knowledge of all regional and metropolitan Sydney media platforms including the ability to manage Instagram, twitter and Facebook in order to build a following and manage breaking news during large incidents.
- Monitor arising and emerging issues. Formulate and implement responses to media enquiries ensuring only the release of suitable and approved information.
- Use multi-media resources when appropriate to maximise opportunities to assist in managing the reputation of the organisation, increase public confidence in paramedics and the Commissioner and promote the good work of all staff across the organisation.
- Provide specialist advice to the client Paramedics and support them in implementing media strategies to assist with the management of responses to issues under media focus.
- Develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of media organisations and foster positive relationships with journalists covering the client issues and daily reactive matters.

**Essential Requirements**:
Current NSW Driver's Licence and the capacity to undertake interstate travel when required.

**Key knowledge and experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in media relations, with relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare proactive and reactive responses, writing content for a range of media including feature articles and the ability to post daily updates for media and reputation management purposes through social media platforms such as Instagram, twitter and Facebook.
- Show initiative in investigating, developing and managing proactive opportunities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- Ability to function individually and as part of a team and demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- An understanding of the role the client plays in the broader health system, the community and the external factors which impact on service delivery.
