**Role**:
Under the direction of the Principal or Business Manager, the Facilities Maintenance officer will maintain the general appearance of the school facilities. The successful applicant will have the capacity to undertake basic maintenance and repairs tasks, including, but not limited to, repairs to toilets, basic carpentry tasks, fixtures and fittings, moving of furniture and maintaining of the school gardens and play areas, and hydrotherapy pool, as required. The applicant must demonstrate a good understanding of OHS requirements. The successful applicant will be trained or provide training in maintenance of the school hydrotherapy pool.

This is a part time position
- 1 day per week, and the hours of work will generally be 7.00am to 3.06pm (start time is negotiable) and attendance may be required throughout the holiday periods.

1. Under the direction of the Principal or Business Manager follow a work schedule to care and maintain the school buildings both internal and external.

2. Minor maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, repairs to toilets, basic carpentry tasks, fixtures and fittings, moving of furniture and upkeep of the hydrotherapy pool (training is provided for this).

3. Undertake inspections of facilities to identify maintenance issues, as required.

4. Cyclical preventative maintenance jobs as scheduled, including gutter & roof cleaning, windows, painting.

5. Undertake minor grounds work and upkeep of gardens and playground area and trimming trees, as required.

6. Liaise with tradespeople and contractors as required.

7. Daily follow-up on any matters raised by cleaners, leadership team.

8. Organise and track inventory of trade supplies for building, plumbing and electrical, for repairs and work requests as required.

9. Purchase and pickup goods/materials from offsite locations

10. Participate as a team member and perform hands-on set ups (events and functions).

11. Ensure that environmental sustainability is practised.

12. Other duties as directed by the Principal and Business Manager.

**Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of this position will be:

- Undertake general maintenance and minor works around the school buildings and grounds to a high standard including rubbish and recycling
- Provide additional cleaning when required including graffiti removal to ensure the aesthetic of the school buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard
- Safely operate machinery and equipment as required for this position.
- Maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Ensure safety is maintained within the work area when completing tasks
- Assess and prioritise job requests in the Maintenance Register
- Liaise with the Principal and Business Manager on works to be completed
- Order and purchase goods and equipment as required
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met whilst working
- Monitor and report on any security issues
- Move furniture and equipment as required including setting up for school events
- Minor cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
- Carry out regular visual inspections of roofs, roof guttering, drains, toilets, sinks and troughs to identify and rectify problems.
- Any other minor repairs ie. new locks, minor plumbing and carpentry etc.
- Application of chemicals as appropriate for the control of weeds and insects.
- General clean up of paths and outdoor areas of the school grounds.
- Other work as directed by the Principal.
