We are looking for a Strategic Communications Manager, reporting to our GM Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations to help develop and deliver a range of corporate affairs strategies including media and business programs designed to strengthen reputation and drive proactive programs in support of Independent retailers.

What you’ll do

Develop and implement externally focussed programs in line with business priorities and communications projects

Responsible for external communications programs for stakeholders across the business and externally (including media, business/industry) aligned to budgets and business policies

Develop and drive proactive programs in support of independent retail networks - including media and cross business strategies

Support with corporate responsibility reporting; including, sustainability reporting and media analysis

Monitor and track information relevant to Metcash published within the press and manage appropriate actions as required

Develop external communications to support integrated business and marketing programs

Media relations and issues management

What you’ll bring

5 - 10 years experience in a similar position with related tertiary qualifications

Experience in integrated communications - taking a holistic view across media, business and industry

Strong writing skills across a variety of mediums (media materials, including releases, Q&As, briefing documents, exec briefings; proposals)

Strategic thinker with experience taking strategy to implementation

Ability to comprehend and distill complex information and translate into succinct messages and effective communications
