**The Role**
Working as an APS 6 - Governance and Secretariat officer provides an opportunity to positively contribute to the management and coordination of key Infrastructure Division work.
The position is accountable, under broad direction, to develop and provide comment on ID input relevant to Defence’s Enterprise Governance framework and Committee processes.
The duties of the Governance and Secretariat Officer include, but are not limited to:
- Day to day management of the enterprise governance function to manage ID input for the Defence Annual Report, Budget Papers, Corporate Plan, Performance reporting, etc. including dissemination of tasking and coordination of ID input
- Oversight of the Governance and Committee forward works plans and agendas for Infrastructure Division (ID)
- Provision of advice to internal stakeholders on Defence Enterprise level committee processes, such as Investment Committee and Gate Reviews, and approval pathways
- Development and quality assurance of papers, reports and ID content managed by the team in accordance with Defence requirements and policies
- Accountable for managing and leading APS5 team member, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance standards
- Divisional audit coordinator and point of contact for external and internal audits
- Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure priority matters are actioned appropriately and in a timely manner
- Contribution to ongoing improvements to IDs committee and governance processes consistent with policy and reform.
**About Our Team**
The Directorate of Business Improvement and Governance within Estate Planning Branch in Infrastructure Division (ID), Security and Estate Group (SEG), is responsible for business governance and corporate functions across ID, and support to Estate programs and projects.
The Governance and Secretariat team is responsible for coordinating divisional input for corporate and statutory reporting such as the Budget Statements, Corporate Plan, and Annual Report, together with performance reporting, audit and coordination tasks; and managing secretariat functions for the Estate and Infrastructure Gate Review committee, including the coordination of all ID content for other Group and Enterprise Committees.
The team works closely with the Office of the First Assistant Secretary, Infrastructure and the Office of the Deputy Secretary, Estate and Infrastructure Group.

The ideal applicant will be able to
- Demonstrated good judgement, initiative and be willing to strive for continuous improvement through refined business processes.
- Demonstrated experience in a Government Enterprise Governance or Corporate related field and a sound understanding of the reporting requirements for Commonwealth Corporate Entities under the PGPA Act.
- A sound understanding of Government approval and authority processes, and how these align to guidance issued from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Department of Finance.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail, with the ability to present ideas persuasively
- Trustworthy, transparent and possess the highest levels of integrity
