The role
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health Act Administration Team (MHAAT) you will be responsible for leading quality and safety improvement and change management activities to improve and support the functions of MHAAT. The role will support delivery of priority actions for MHAAT arising from Better Care Together, Queensland's state-funded mental health alcohol and other drug services plan to 2027.

In addition, you will provide expert advice regarding the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016, the rights of persons with a mental illness and related matters, and contribute towards core regulatory functions carried out by the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist.

The successful person
To be successful in the role, you will have a comprehensive understanding and breadth of experience with the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 and legislation that directly impacts on people with a mental illness and/or disability. Additionally you will have expert knowledge and understanding of issues relating to the safeguards that protect the rights of mental health alcohol and other drugs service consumers.

Furthermore you will also have outstanding interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills to cultivate productive working relationships and negotiate on behalf of the agency
