- Are you a skilled harm reduction focused Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) worker who is passionate about empowering community to effectively respond to overdose? Do you thrive in a non-traditional public health setting? Then join our Proactive Overdose Response Initiative (PORI) team at North Richmond Community Health_
**Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Actively engage with clients in and around the NRCH vicinity who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing an overdose using harm reduction principles and trauma informed practice, in accordance with current AOD best practice standards.
- Develop and deliver appropriate training in overdose prevention, response, and naloxone administration to clients, MSIR/AOD Program staff and other internal and external stakeholders
- Liaise with local health service and emergency service providers as appropriate to encourage interagency referral of people who have survived overdose or are at risk of overdose
- Engage with the community and key stakeholders to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and develop skills in overdose response that accommodate the diverse needs of participants
**KEY SELECTION CRITERIA**
**Essential qualifications, attributes and skills include, but are not limited to**:
- Qualifications in health, AOD, welfare, social sciences, psychology, public health or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to engage with marginalised people who may exhibit complex behaviours
- Knowledge of relevant health and community services for people who use drugs
- Demonstrated knowledge of co-occurring drug use and mental health issues, and harm reduction in the context of opioid and other drug use and risks associated with the use of these.
Please note it is a requirement for all employees of North Richmond Community Health to demonstrate evidence of mandatory immunisations/vaccinations prior to commencement of employment, based on the Immunisation Category their position falls under.
